Open Public Dispatch welcomes clear, original pitches that help readers understand public information without turning explanation into advocacy or jurisdiction-specific instruction.
What to propose
Pitch one focused article about a public document, decision stage, institutional term or method of reading a record. Useful proposals explain why a distinction matters, define unfamiliar language and give readers a careful way to interpret material. Evergreen topics that do not depend on current events are especially suitable.
What makes a strong pitch
Send a short description of the central question, the answer the article will develop, the intended reader and the sources you would use. Explain any limits or uncertainty in the topic. We do not accept copied work, unsupported claims or pitches that present a particular public position as neutral explanation.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please include a working title and a brief outline in your message. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication.
A record is a starting point, not the whole story
Documents show what was recorded and when. Reading them carefully means separating stated facts, proposals and unanswered questions.
